The Band will be travelling to France and Belgium in April to commemorate the many men from the County Durham coalfields who served in World War I.

Staying in Albert in Northern France, they will perform a concert in the famous Basilica Notre-Dame de Brebières which was destroyed during the war but has since been fully reconstructed. They will also journey to Ypres in Belgium to visit the battlefields of the Somme and to take part in the Last Post ceremony at the Menin Gate Memorial. The trip will finish in Glisy, near Amiens, where there will be a joint concert with the local Rail Union Band.
